Note: On 12/08/1851, Manasses and E. Yeck purchase land from John V. Reeder, Vol. W, Page 225. This transaction was found in the Logan Co., OH Deed index, M-Z, 1810-1890, Page 545, Copy Held by Benjamin Kinsey.

In the census, Mannassex is also spelled Manassa. On his tombstone, it just says M. Yeck. On his marriage certificate he is Menasa and Manassa. The second spelling is with the German double s. On some of his children's birth records he is Manassah.

Manassa Yeck first appears, in records, in MI on 2/01/1868, when he purchases some land from George Morton or Martin in section 22, Eaton Co. MI. (Liber 39, Page 119) Source is Eaton Co. MI Deed Index, 1853-1873, LDS Film #0965711, Vols. 2&3. Copy of transaction shows that Manassa paid $900.00 for 40 acres in section 22 of Windsor Tw'p., Eaton Co., MI. Copies are held by Benjamin Kinsey.

In 1876, Manassa acquires a quit claim deed from a Jane Semer in Eaton Co. MI. (Liber 67, Page 45) Source is Eaton Co. MI Deed Index, 1873-1888, LDS Film #0965712, Vols. 4&5. Copy of indenture shows that Manassa paid $50.00 for the quit claim deed for 40 acres in section 22, Windsor Tw'p., Eaton Co., MI. Copies are held by Benjamin Kinsey.

In 1876, Manassa sells land to Julia Ann Parks in Eaton Co. MI. (Liber 64, Page 259) Source is Eaton Co. MI Deed Index, 1873-1888, LDS Film #0965712, Vols. 4&5. Copy of indenture shows that Manassa received $1900.00 for 40 acres in section 22 of Windsor Tw'p., Eaton Co., MI. Copies are held by Benjamin Kinsey.

Manassa and Laura had a farm in Diamondale MI and moved to TX for his health. They bought a 300 acre farm near Old Alton TX. Laura sold the farm after Manassa died in 1905. (Source- Elmer Wesley Yeck, grandson of Manassa, Oct. 1998).

"MRS. YECK, DENTON PIONEER, DIES FRIDAY"
Mrs. L.J. Yeck, resident of Denton County for 50 years, died at her home at 918 Chestnut Street Friday evening, of senility. She had been in poor health for several years. Mrs. Yeck was 82 years, 8 months and 23 days of age; having been born in Ohio June 3, 1842.
Surviving are two sons, D.F. Yeck and M.I. Yeck, and two daughters, Mrs M.L. Griffth and Mrs M.A. Hickman. A sister also survives.
Funeral services were to be held at 4:30 Saturday afternoon at Old Alton, with C.E. Wooldridge, fomerly of the Church of Christ here in charge, and burial was to be in the old Alton cemetery."
