On 12/31/1851, Joseph & Ephraim Yeck Purchase 40 acres of land from Philson McDonald for $1851. This entry is on page 543 of the Deed record Index for Logan Co., OH, M-Z, 1810-1890, LDS film #0545341. Vol. W, Page 226. According to the deed, Ephraim and Joseph are to clear the property, put up a fence, build a comfortable log house and any other necessary buildings. They agree to hold the land for eight years. Copies of deed and index are held by Benjamin Kinsey.

On 9/11/1852, Ephraim and Manassa Yeck Purchase 80 acres plus 28 & 4/7 acres from Joseph & Sarah Kirts for the amount of $540. This entry in on page 247, Vol. X, LDS film #0545373. Copies of deed and index are held by Benjamin Kinsey.

Copy of indenture shows that Ephraim received a quit claim for 25/32 of an acre of undecided land in section 15, Windsor Tw'p., Eaton Co. MI. He paid $50. Copies are held by Benjamin Kinsey.

Jean Kelley has a school book, "Cobbs Sequel 1832", that was used by Harriet and Ephraim Yeck. They both had written their names in it.

When Ephraim is listed with his family in the 1850 OH census, he was born in PA. In the 1870 and 1880 MI census, he was born in Maryland. His father was from Prussia and his mother from Maryland in 1880.

Mrs. Catherine Newkirk, one of the first settlers of Franklin Co died at her home 7 1/2 miles north west of town Saturday night. The funeral services were held Monday. Burial was in Dean cemetery.
